Terms & Conditions
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you, when we make, alter or hire out a garment.
About these terms
These terms govern the services provided by Flux Bespoke Tailor. By booking a consultation, placing an order, hiring a garment or using this website, you agree to them. Please read them properly — several of them affect what happens to your money.
Our services
Flux Bespoke Tailor provides:
- Men's bespoke — suits, jackets, trousers and shirts cut to your measurements.
- Women's bespoke — tailored garments made to your measurements and your brief.
- Alterations — refitting, resizing and repair, at any of our branches.
- Suit hire — fitted hire for weddings, matric dances and events.
- Fitting and design consultations.
We make garments. We do not sell them off the rack. Because every piece is cut to one person’s measurements, a completed garment cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturing defect.
Consultations and bookings
You can book a consultation through this website, by email, by phone or over WhatsApp. We will confirm the appointment with you before the day.
Please arrive on time. A fitting is a booked slot with a Fashion Consultant, and if you are more than 15 minutes late we may have to reschedule you. We may also need to move an appointment ourselves, and will give you as much notice as we can.
Quotes and pricing
We quote before any work begins, and confirm the price with you when the order is placed. If the design changes after that — a different fabric, an added detail, a change of garment — we will requote before carrying on.
Deposits and payment
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the order value is required before we begin. It covers the fabric we buy for you and the workshop time we commit to your order.
The remaining 50% is due when you collect the finished garment. We accept EFT and cash; card payment may be available, so please ask. Garments are not released until payment has been made in full.
Turnaround time
We give you an estimated completion date when you order. It depends on the complexity of the garment and how full the workshop is at the time. These are honest estimates, not guarantees, and we will tell you promptly if anything is going to slip.
If you are working to a fixed date — a wedding, a matric dance — tell us at the outset. Rush work can often be accommodated for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Fittings
A bespoke garment normally needs one or more fittings to get right. Up to two fittings are included in the price of a bespoke order.
Where your measurements have changed significantly since the order was placed, the extra fittings and remaking needed to catch up may be charged separately. Attending your scheduled fittings is your responsibility, and missed fittings will delay the work.
Alterations
We alter garments that we did not make at our discretion — some garments cannot be altered well, and we would rather say so than take your money.
Alteration pricing is given upfront and agreed before work starts. A deposit may be required on larger alteration jobs.
Suit hire
Suit hire is by appointment. A hired garment remains the property of Flux Bespoke Tailor at all times, and hire is booked for a set period agreed with you at the time of booking.
You will be asked to sign a hire agreement before the garment leaves us. It records the garment, the hire period, the deposit held, and the condition it goes out in.
A refundable damage deposit is payable before the garment leaves us. The amount is quoted at booking and depends on the garment.
Try the garment on when you collect it. We make final adjustments there and then. Once a garment has left our premises we cannot be responsible for a fit issue that was not raised at collection.
While the garment is with you:
- Fair wear is expected and is not charged for.
- Damage beyond fair wear — tears, burns, or marks that ordinary cleaning will not lift — is charged against the deposit. Where the cost of repair or replacement exceeds the deposit, the balance is payable by you.
- Do not have a hired garment cleaned or altered by anyone else. Cleaning is ours to arrange unless we tell you otherwise at booking.
- Late return is charged at the daily rate quoted at booking. A garment that is not returned by the agreed date, and not returned after we have contacted you about it, may be treated as lost and charged at its full replacement value.
Once a garment is reserved for your date we hold it out of stock and turn away other bookings for it, so hire deposits are non-refundable. If your date moves, tell us as early as you can and we will do what we can to help.
Cancellations and refunds
- After the deposit is paid — the 50% deposit is non-refundable, because it covers materials and labour already committed to your order.
- Before work begins — if you cancel within 24 hours of booking and before any materials have been ordered, we may refund some or all of the deposit at our discretion.
- Completed garments — because everything is made to measure, we do not refund completed orders unless there is a proven manufacturing defect.
- Defects — if your garment has a manufacturing defect, bring it back within 7 days of collection and we will put it right at no charge.
What we need from you
- Give us accurate measurements, or come in so that we can take them properly.
- Tell us before production begins if your measurements have changed significantly.
- Collect your finished garment within 30 days of us telling you it is ready. After 30 days a storage fee may apply.
- Uncollected garments may be donated to charity at our discretion after 90 days.
Fabric and materials
Where you supply your own fabric, we take no responsibility for its quality, its suitability for the garment, or whether more of it can be obtained. We may decline to work with fabric we consider unsuitable, and we will tell you why.
Fabric quantities we recommend are estimates. Some garments need more than expected once cutting begins.
Designs and photography
Designs created by Flux Bespoke Tailor remain our intellectual property unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We may photograph completed garments for our own marketing — our website and our social media. If you would rather we did not photograph your garment, tell us in writing before you collect it and we will not.
Limitation of liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the order in question. We are not liable for indirect losses, including disappointment, missed events, or costs arising from a delay.
We take reasonable care of garments left in our custody, but we cannot accept liability for pre-existing damage or for loss beyond our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, or any other right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute arising from them falls to the South African courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date and version at the top of this page will change when we do. The terms that apply to your order are the ones in force on the day you placed it.
