How We Work
From first fitting to finished garment
Three services, three different journeys. Here is exactly what happens, how long each takes, and what to bring.
Bespoke
A garment cut from your own measurements, for men and women. Expect two visits before you collect.
Turnaround 5 to 7 days to make
- 01
Consultation
We talk through purpose, budget and how you actually wear clothes. Bring a garment you like the fit of if you have one.
30 to 45 minutes
- 02
Cloth
Choose from cloth curated for South African seasons, from lightweight wool for Highveld summers to heavier suiting for the Cape winter.
- 03
Measurement
A full set of measurements, taken in person. Posture and stance are recorded too, because they change how a jacket hangs.
Same visit
- 04
Cutting and making
Your measurements become a pattern, and the pattern becomes a garment. The making itself takes five to seven days.
5 to 7 days
- 05
Fitting
You come back and we mark what needs to move. Almost every garment needs something at this stage. That is the point of it.
Second visit
- 06
Finishing and collection
Final press, final check, and it is yours. We keep your measurements on file so a second garment is quicker.
Alterations
Walk into any branch. No appointment needed for most work.
Turnaround A day or two
- 01
Walk in
Bring the garment and, where it matters, the shoes you will wear with it. Trouser length cannot be judged without them.
- 02
Pin and quote
We pin the change on you and price it before any work starts. You approve the quote first.
10 to 15 minutes
- 03
The work
Taking in, letting out, hemming, relining, zips, seams and repairs. Bridal and matric dance gowns included.
- 04
Collection
Try it on before you leave. If something is still not right, we fix it.
Suit Hire
For weddings, matric dances, funerals and corporate events. Every hire is fitted, not handed over off the rack.
Turnaround 2 to 3 days from first fitting
- 01
Book an appointment
Hire is by appointment, not walk-in. Matric dance season runs September and October and wedding season follows it, so those weeks fill first.
Peak: Sep to Dec
- 02
Choose and measure
Pick the suit and we measure you against it. For a wedding party we fit everyone together so the group matches.
- 03
Fitting
We adjust the hired garment to you. This is what separates a Flux hire from a rental rack.
2 to 3 days to delivery
- 04
Sign, collect and return
You sign the hire agreement, collect before the event, and return it after. Cleaning is handled on our side.
Questions
Before you come in
How long does a bespoke suit take?
The suit itself takes five to seven days to make. Add your fitting appointment in between, and tell us at the consultation if you are working to a date. We also have an express option if it is tight.
Do I need an appointment for alterations?
No. Walk into any of our branches. We pin and quote the work while you are there, and most alterations are back with you in a day or two.
How far ahead should I book a hired suit?
Hire is by appointment, and it takes two to three days from your first fitting to delivery. September to December is our busiest period because matric dance and wedding season overlap, so book earlier if your event falls in it.
Do you alter garments I did not buy from Flux?
Yes. Most of our alteration work is on garments bought elsewhere, including bridal.
What should I bring to a fitting?
The shoes you intend to wear, and a garment whose fit you already like if you have one. Both change the decisions we make.
Do you keep my measurements?
Yes, on file at the branch. A second garment is quicker because of it, though we re-check measurements rather than assume nothing has changed.
Ready when you are
